happy earth day

to commemorate - we wanna share some of the ways we've gone "green" in recent years, oh because it feels good to see the contribution we're making to the greener good - and its earth day appropriate mm'kay.
however, and ok..i also wanna make the admission that i am the reluctant owner of a massive v8 environment destroying pickup truck - but that i hope to change that sooner than later. because i really do want a cool old something that we can convert to bio diesel and feel good about.


so this is our 'that's a good hippie' list:

we belong to our local food co-op ORGANIC BEER etc.

we've switched out ALL of our household light bulbs to compact fluorescent bulbs

we recycle plastic, glass, and paper - there happens to be a recycling center down the street

reusable grocery bags

low volume shower-head

we buy organic fair-trade coffee and drink it incesssantly

i stopped washing my truck

we've [recently] stopped buying bottled water [BY THE CASE]

our pets are spayed and neutered - they're all rescues
[alternative greener kitty litter is on the to do list]

we put our electronics on multiplug outlet strips, and unplug when not in use
[hey, we need a smart strip]

craigslist before anything for bigger purchases [like a ping pong table]
we also belong to freecycle

local as often as is possible

we go vegetarian at least 3 days out of the week

i bring a lunch to work 99% of the time

and today i took a stand - and chose NOT to write any citations today - to save paper and trees!
